What is wrong with Senran Kagura
There was a interview with Senran Kagura Producer Kenichiro Takaki which he has concerns about sexuality in the franchise. Takaki is worry about how the game is received through the western market. There is a group called the SJW meaning Social Justice Warrior which is a pejorative term for an individual promoting socially progressive views. Such as feminism, civil rights, multiculturalism, and identity politics. PlayStation Lifestyle’s Tyler Treese asked Takaki have you consider toning down sexiness in Senran Kagura. Also if the game release in regions to have a feature to tone down physical assets, here is what he says (image below).
In Japanese, they don’t have SJW but just remember some countries have morals about sexuality of woman. Some ban games because of that, There are couple of games that SJW have problems with. Dead Or Alive Series, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni and many other games with ecchi elements in them. I have to say this “If you don’t like how women are portray in Japanese games don’t buy it”. That’s Japanese culture and they have way of marketing to people who love hot anime woman.
Senran Kagura has become a popular franchise due to the fans who buy the game. People outside of Japan might want to play this game as well but there is a obstacle that stands in there way. When critics review a game they don’t worry about sexuality, they worry about the gameplay, graphics and replay value. In general, some developer have to consider to what the game is aim but sometimes it will not received well for others.
