Capcom is not happy with people modding their game. Street Fighter V has been out for sometime. Fan of the series want to put their own twist in the game. For example, modding character to look like iconic characters such as Harley Quinn, Sombera from Overwatch, Zero Suit Samus and many more. Not just character but swimsuits, hairstyles, clothing and more. Two modder Khaledantar666 and BrutalAce were hit with the DMCA notice for using copywritten material. Khaledantar666 has ceased his modding activity and says “Patreon will cease, they will continue to create mods and operate on their various other channels”. Khaledantar666 will not make mod for Street Fighter V anymore but focus making mods for other games.
As for BrutalAce is no longer making mods and have issues with Reddit on his Patreon page. Not just Reddit but ZetaBoards. BrutalAce did state that the account has not active and negative criticism about the mods. Zetaboards did ban BrutalAce for creating paid mods. Here is my two cent about the situation, mods are creator and fan to express themselves. Games like Fallout 4 and Doom support modding and reach out to the mod community. Capcom doesn’t like modding due to making the game more glitchy or paid modding. There is nothing wrong with making money with art. Nowaday, artists have a crowdfunding such as Patreon, Kickstarter, Gofundme and more. I think all artist should get paid for there work without using copyright material. I wish these guys the best of luck in the future and continuing modding. Street Fighter V is available on PlayStation 4 and Steam.
