Indies of the Week #41 – Disrupt Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to another Indies of the Week # 41 this Sunday. Before I get to the theme for today. I am been at Anime USA 2017 yesterday and last Friday. It was no indies there but I had fun. Anime 2017 blog post will be on Friday before Christmas shopping . Today’s theme is disrupt in indies you have a primary objective. There is a disrupt or obstacle that you must overcome to achieve it. Let’s see what indies we have in store for us gamers.

5. Juicy Realm – SpaceCan

Juicy Realm is a rogue-like shooter indie game.  Juicy Realm is plants  are eating human and now human are the top of the food chain. In gameplay, players gain weapons , items and gear to fight off human-eating plants. Defend of and expand your  based camp. Play alone or with friends in campaign mode. Indies of the Week #40 – Giving Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to another Indies of the Week #40 this Sunday. I hope you had a had a great Thanksgiving.  Today’s theme is giving in indies game, which developers give the fans something to look forward to. Gameplay, characters and storyline in indies.  Last Tuesday was all about giving but I am late. Let’s see what indies we have today.

8. Slam Fighter II – Team Dogpit

Slam Fighter II is a rhythm/fighting indie game. The concept is insulting your opponent and responding to it. Slam Fighter II has a single-player campaign, versus mode and 10 EDM tracks. Players can use keyboard and controller  in the game. Six playable characters have strengths and weakness , six stages, resolution  640×480 and more.  There is gallery mode with unlock profiles and character art. Slam Fighter II is available now on Steam and visit Team Dogpit website.

Toonstruck – Cute and Nasty Cartoons Video Game Retro Review

Toonstruck is an adventure point and click game which features actor Christopher Lloyd. The game has FMV with 2D animation blend in with live action. The plot of the Toonstruck follows an animator named Drew Blanc and creator of Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show. Drew’s boss Sam Schmaltz want him to designed more bunnies for the show. Drew felt asleep and Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show was on 2AM in the morning. Next thing Drew gets transported in a cartoon world where he meets Flux Wildly. Flux tells Drew that he will help him get back to the real world.

If Drew helps Flux to stop Count Nefarious from making cartoon world dark and adult. Later on Drew and Flux meet King Hugh who tells them to find items for the Cutifier. Cutifier is a mechanism that counter’s Count Nefarious’s The Malevolator. The story goes from there and Drew meets other characters from Cutopia, Zanyu and Malevoland.

The gameplay is old-school point and click adventure. You can move Drew and also use Flux to do things. During interaction with characters, there will be icons on the bottom left corner. Ice icon is to continuing to talk to the character. Stop hand icon is to leave the conversation and there are special ones as well. Live action actors such as Christopher Lloyd and Ben Stein make an appearance in this game. Popular 90s voice actors such as Tress MacNeile, Rob Paulsen, Corey Button Jim Cummings, Jeff Bennett and Frank Welker. It was great to hear those voices out of these characters.

Indies of the Week #40 – Epic Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to another Indies of the Week # 40 this Sunday. Before I get to some indies I would like to announce that. There will not Indies of the Week next week or new blog posts. I just want to take a week along break from the blog.  I want to spend Thanksgiving and Black Friday with my family.  Follow me on Twitter, Facebook and signup for my mailing list. Developers make these indies with their hearts content and thankful for having a gift. Let’s see what indies we have today.

6. PROTOTYPE MANSION – Jupiter Lighthouse

Prototype Mansion is a survival horror classic style indie game. Prototype Mansion reminds you of old school Resident Evil on the PSX days. I think it’s a parody of the game and voice acting. Solve puzzles and 32 bit Playstation graphics. Find items to health or cure sickness. Investigate strange occurrence and  shoot zombies. 5. Light Apprentice: The Comic Book RPG – Amazu Media

Light Apprentice – The Comic Book RPG is a turn-based indie game were comics integrate with video games. Players take control of Nate who is a light apprentice. You have control on what Nate and other apprentices based on the player actions. Customize your hero and befriend monster to help you in battle. Level up your apprentice and collect items to use in battle. Comic style hand drawn graphics set the tone of the game. Spare or defeat a monster like Undertale. M.U.G.E.N. – Create Your Own Crossover Fighting Game Review

How you ever wonder if you characters from anime, gaming, cartoons and movies crossover? M.U.G.E.N. is the software for fighting game fans. M.U.G.E.N. is a 2D fighting game engine created by Elecbtye. This engine allows creators to make and rip stages, characters, and srceenpacks from other games. History of M.U.G.E.N. started off in 1999 as beta. Beta version work on MS-DOS, Mac and Linux operation systems. M.U.G.E.N. creator Elecbtye forgotten what the engine stand for, mugen in Japanese means unlimited. Elecbtye seek donations to obtain a windows version of M.U.G.E.N.

After WinM.U.G.E.N project was discontinued in 2003 and Elecbtye had to shut down their website. Elecbtye release a private WinM.U.G.E.N beta containing limit of two characters and locked game modes. Later Elecbtye removes these limitation and made WinM.U.G.E.N. beta available in 2004. This new version of WinM.U.G.E.N features music plugins and SFF files to show palettes. CNS scripts for controllers and changes to DOS patches to downgrade characters to be compatible. In 2007 hacked WinM.U.G.E.N add third-party for hires stages and select screens. Low and hi res stages are compatible in new version of WinM.U.G.E.N.

Indies of the Week #39 – Surprising Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to another indies of the Week #39 this sunday. I hope you had a great Veterans Day weekend I did a post yesterday thanking all the vets who served.  Let’s get right to today’s theme surprising, indies are full of wonders. Indie developers want to surprise based on playing the game. For example, popular culture references, paying homage and out of the world gameplay. Here are some indie games to check out and support .

Slashers: The Power Battle is a 2D fighting indie game that takes inspiration from Street Fighter 3, Last Blade, Samurai Shodown and Guilty Gear. Slashers has fluid animation, simple 4 controls (  Slash, Big Slash, Kick, Chaos) and other input modes. Tutorial mode for beginners,  11 playable fighters plus free dlc. Game modes such as network, arcade, story, versus and combo challenge. Customize characters and buy accessories with in-game currency. Cartoon-like graphics reminds of Burning Rival  , tactical mechanic  such as Counter Block, Power Recovery and Chaos Break. A Near Dawn – Psychological Difficulties Indie Visual Novel Kickstarter

Far-off Daydream Games brings you very dark humorous psychological thriller called A Near Dawn. The plot of Near Dawn is Sam Nichols is a  victim of some disturbing psychological difficulties. Sam takes on cases which he gets into dire situations.  Near Dawn indie game  is inspired by Twin Peaks, Ace Attorney, Broken Sword, Blackwell and  Steins;Gate.  Game graphics is very colorful and using traditional frame-by-frame animation. There are two side of Sam light and dark, depending on the player’s playstyle you can’t back on your choice. Near Dawn includes full-voiced speech and narration for the cast. The game give you more freedom than your standard point and click adventure.

There are over 14 characters to interact with based on personality and backgrounds. Multiple endings are also available throughout the game, whether to save someone dearly or murder a victim your choice. Soundtrack is mix with suspense and mellow just listen down below.

Indies of the Week #38 – Exploration Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to Indies of the Week # 38 this Sunday. Happy Daylight Savings Time and today’s theme is exploration. Explore different worlds in indie can take you on many journey. Due to indie game developers artstyle and story-telling. Let’s see what indie we have in store for today.

8. Cede – BareHand

Cede is a 3D action-RPG which inspired by Diablo and Harvest Moo farming system. Cede core mechanics are farming and combat but just those two. Transforming plants and control them, two types of plants defender and supporter. Defenders attack  monsters and supporters heal  and boost stats. Kind of reminds me of Plants Vs Zombies, players can create their own farm. Gathering materials, fight off horde of enemies and explore new worlds. Indies of the Week #37 – Narration Indie Gaming Sunday

Welcome to another indies of the Week #37 this Sunday. Sorry there is no Halloween edition today. Although there is a cute and scary edition if you want to check it out.  Today’s theme is narration, story telling in indies game take you on a journey. How heroes have a goal they must follow and put your in a fantasy world.  Without further ado lets get started on some indies.

7. Hellbreaker – Tahoe Games

Hellbreaker is a vertical-action roguelike indie game. Players take control of a man with a demon-like claw. Fight your way demons from hell and execute combos. Unlock new character as you progress through the Hellbreaker. Gigantic 2017 – Take Down the Guardian Video Game Review

Team-based shooter are becoming more popular in a second. Motiga’s Gigantic is no exception at all and it’s another statistic. Gigantic history of development is unknown but is unique in anyways. The main goal of the game is to take down guardians from each team. Two houses are represented Aurion and Devendra, these two faction are at war with each other. In order to lead your house to victory, gather power from summoning creature and enemies. Two Guardians face off with one another, as one pin to the ground. An opportunity arise to strike the opposing guardian‘s weakness. For defense save your guardian from being annihilated by defeating enemies to buy more time.

Players has to form a team of five just like any team-based shooters. Each 20 heroes has different classes and playstyles such as shooter, unity, summon, fighter and more. Just like any other MOBA, there are 5 abilities for each hero. Ultimate can be build up by fighting and summoning creatures. Creatures can support in battle with different types. Build walls to protect heroes, heals teammates and scout enemies locations. Creatures can evolve like Pokemon to become stronger.
